During my professional career I have worked for several art and cultural events such as the European Month of Photography, Berlin Art Week, Gallery Neugerriemschneider, 25th Anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and Documenta 13. I was held in high regard for my motivation and organisation, the ability to work to tight deadlines and excellent structuring and communication skills. Furthermore, I have founded a publishing house for colouring books for grown ups in the Netherlands and have been conducting administration for artists.
I like to structure, organise and coordinate. It’s a social occupation; it connects people, ideas and action. I’ve worked for several art events and organisations as well as smaller projects, always in teams. Among my main tasks were coordination, structuring, planning, arts and artist administration, fundraising, budget developing and budget controlling.
As production manager of the European Month of Photography’s Opening Days I coordinated the production of a four-day event programme for Kulturprojekte Berlin in close collaboration with Buero Doering. The EMOP Opening Days were curated by C/O Berlin and hosted ten panel discussions, portfolio reviews, a book fair with 35 international publishers and eight concerts. Besides I coordinated security, hospitality and was responsible for budget controlling and administration.
For Berlin Art Week 2015 I managed the production of two panel discussions by Talking Galleries (Barcelona) that took place during the abc – art berlin contemporary.

At neugerriemschneider, a gallery in a former factory in Berlin’s city center, I have been working in finance and control, being occupied with numbers and administration while enjoying the great variety of the team.
In 2014 I have been working as coordinator public spaces for the so called Lichtgrenze (border of light) for Berlin’s anniversary “25 Years Fall of the Wall”. An installation of 8,000 illuminated balloons – after an idea of artists Marc Bauder and Christopher Bauder – marked a 15 kilometer long stretch along the former border of the wall on 9 November 2014.
My tasks were to assist the production manager with the conceptual design, planning and realisation of several events. I coordinated the ‘Shop Window Campaign’, where hundreds of Berlin merchants and retailers drew attention to the riots of 1938 by installing transparencies to their windows which made them look like they had been destroyed. For the ‘Diversity is Freedom’ at Brandenburg Gate I was responsible for organising the reception at the Academy of Arts at Pariser Platz.
‘Diversity Destroyed’ commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Nazis’ assumption of power in 1933 and the 75th anniversary of the November pogroms in 1938. The project, executed by Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH, united over 170 partners among which museums, clubs, associations, district governments and artists. The open air portrait exhibition highlighted the biographies of Berliners in 1920s and 1930s who were persecuted later. For ‘Diversity is Freedom’ thousands of young Berliners made their video statements. These were projected on Brandenburg Gate on November 10th, 2013.
Joining in late, I assisted with the conceptual design, planning and realization of the opening event in Auguststrasse. Specific tasks included contracting the musicians, outdoor branding and communication with key partners. Furthermore I was responsible for an exclusive reception where mayor Klaus Wowereit held his pre-opening speech as well as the vip party at Pauly Saal.
In September 2013 the second edition of Berlin Art Week presented the whole range of Berlin art through a collaboration with abc – art berlin contemporary, Preview Berlin Art Fair and ten major art institutions such as KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Deutsche Bank Kunsthalle and Hamburger Bahnhof. Ten additional project partners complemented the official projects, among which independent project spaces AUTOCENTER and After the Butcher.
Among my tasks where fundraising, planning, budgeting as well as writing texts for the publication. I invited the artists Maria Barnas, Keren Cytter and Fiete Stolte and initiated a collaboration with HAU Hebbel am Ufer for Cytter’s theatre performance Show Real Drama with Berlin based actors Fabian Stumm and Susie Meyer.
Truth, knowledge and time were the subject of this group exhibition at Meinblau e. V. Berlin featuring Maria Barnas, Chris Bierl, Keren Cytter, Wolfgang & Christoph Lauenstein, Julia Schmid, Fiete Stolte and Doris Maximiliane Würgert. The exhibition was financially supported by the cultural department of Pankow and the Dutch Embassy in Berlin.
As the assistant to the back officer manager, I was responsible for setting up a functional structure for the technical production department, contributed to planning the projects, develop, maintain and control production budgets, the organization and direction of the weekly team meetings as well as information management and administration. The technical production of dOCUMENTA (13) was lead by the Berlin exhibition company Abrell & Van den Berg GbR.
documenta is one of the world’s leading contemporary art exhibitions. In 1955 Arnold Bode initiated the first documenta in order to expose the Germans to the art of the 20s and 30s, which had been prohibited by the Nazi regime. Over time, the exhibition shifted more towards contemporary art exhibiting artists from all over the world. dOCUMENTA (13) was curated by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev along the subject of “Collapse and Recovery”. Between June 9th and September 16th 2012, the 100 days of opening, 860,000 people visited the exhibition inclusing 187 artists spread over more than 20 venues in Kassel.
I was accepted as an intern for the position of assistant to the event coordinator. Among my tasks were supporting the design, planning and realization of the daily events, the responsibility of the contracts with the artists and coordinating the events. ‘Based in Berlin’ was executed by Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH.
‘Based in Berlin’ took place in summer 2011 on five different locations in Berlin: Atelierhaus Monbijou, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Nationalgalerie im Hamburger Bahnhof, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein n.b.k. and Berlinische Galerie. The exhibition, initiated by mayor Klaus Wowereit covered 80 artists currently working and living in Berlin. The curators were Angelique Campens, Fredi Fischli, Magdalena Magiera, Jakob Schillinger and Scott Cameron Weaver with on their side the advisors Klaus Biesenbach, Christine Macel and Hans Ulrich Obrist.
Working in the presentation department, my tasks as an intern were assisting the project manager of the exhibition by giving structure to the archive of objects, proof reading texts and supporting the installation the exhibition.
The exhibition ‘Trade Goods and Souvenirs’ showed more than 170 works of art from Islamic cultures depicted from the collection of Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum and complemented with objects from the National Museum of Antiquities.
As the student representative I took part in policy and decision making and was responsible for all student matters, such as participating in various consultative committees, directing the teaching committees of the different departments as well as the study associations.
Leiden University’s Faculty of Humanities hosts a whole range of studies and expertise, such as philosophy, (art) history, literature, religious studies and a variety of culture and language studies. The Faculty Office prepares and implements the Faculty’s policy and is run by the Faculty Board, consisting of the dean, the director of education, the faculty manager and the student representative.
Together with my mother and artist Greet Haasnoot we developed the concept of colouring books for grown ups. We both believe in the relaxing character of colouring. Each book takes its story from traveling to a specific place. During these travels we collect motifs through rubbings from reliefs or pictures which are then drawn by hand. The lines follow the exact handwriting of the craftsman who made the design centuries ago.
The book Bas Haasnoot Jutter Kunstenaar is about the oeuvre of my grandfather and artist Bas Haasnoot, who passed away in 2013. The publication is a collaboration with my mother (his daughter) Greet Haasnoot, my brother (his grandson) Christiaan Bakker, curator André Groeneveld, Dorien van den Berg from Natural Styling and photographer Dick Hogewoning. The book accompanied an exhibition honoured to Bas Haasnoot at the Katwijks Museum. In January 2014 the Meerburgprijs was awarded to this book project. You can order the book here.

Kunst en de kust speelden een grote rol in het leven van Bas Haasnoot. Dagelijks jutte hij over het Katwijkse strand op zoek naar materiaal dat bij vloed werd aangespoeld. Hij verwerkte het tot eigenzinnige objecten en bootjes. Van zeewier, moerasgras en brandnetel maakte hij papier en vezelschilderijen. Bas Haasnoot was ook graficus. Vele etsen en monoprints kwamen van zijn hand, vaak geïnspireerd door wereldse culturen zoals het oude Egypte of het Romeinse Rijk, maar ook door de historie van zijn geboortedorp Katwijk. Al deze facetten komen samen in dit unieke overzicht van zijn oeuvre.
Het Katwijks Museum ligt in het centrum van het oude vissersdorp Katwijk en is gehuisvest een voormalige, monumentale rederswoning.
